Autumn: Bridal but Make It Fashion shoot series
Monday, 13 April 2020
So this shoot was the first time this team of suppliers had worked together - we've all worked on lots of shoots before but none like this! It was INSANE, total magic in the air that day. Part of my role is not only organising a shoot, sourcing suppliers, finding a venue but also creatively directing. Shoots are never easy to coordinate, they take months in the making and take up so much headspace! We are all putting our creative souls into it, so we want to know that we are going to do the vision we have justice. And, it's since been featured on Rock My Wedding!
Susie and the team at Botley Hill Barn asked me to hold a shoot there, as the venue had just opened in the summer and it is so gorgeous! I'm already dreaming of the day I get to work at a wedding there-the huge windows and homely, authentic feel the barn has is perfect for a wedding. So one day over brunch, Elena Popa and I got planning and crafting a dream concept of 'Bridal but Make It Fashion' and dream supplier list! Most wedding suppliers involved are London-based, as we had the idea that this was going to be aimed at city couples wanting a modern, contemporary wedding design in a breathtaking Surrey venue.
Autumn fits Botley Hill Barn perfectly: the interiors are cosy fabrics, lots of exposed wood and organic materials. We wanted to put a little spin on the washed out colour palettes you often see towards the end of the year, so we asked Kai at My Lady Garden if we can go bright with the florals - and did she deliver! The organic yet modern feel of the barn worked really well in acting as a base for brighter colours. We brought in palm trees to embed the design, plants are incredible at being a link between decor and a venue or home.
The best thing about what we've got as a team, is we have a clear vision that everyone is on board with - and on a shoot day we all just do our thing and watch it come together. That's MAGIC right there, just knowing you're in the best hands and don't have to worry. It's why I'll recommend this team of incredible suppliers over and over again to my couples, because if they make me feel like that, they'll definitely make you feel even more relaxed! And that feeling on your wedding day is worth every. single. penny!
