Australian style wedding at kew gardens

Kew Gardens, September 2022

Welcome back to The Latest - on todayโ€™s blog weโ€™re sharing our experience of working on a wedding at Kew Gardens, and bringing a much more modern take to a venue where things can go a little traditionalโ€ฆ

We recommend our Wedding Planning service for clients getting married at Kew Gardens, there are a LOT of logistics & planning that needs to be done!

The Venue

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is a botanical gardens in southwest London. Open to the public every day, it makes planning & bringing a wedding to life there slightly challenging - within 2 hours the public cafe closes & is turned into your wedding reception area!

It is stunningly beautiful, and for couples with a healthy wedding budget itโ€™s one of the must see venues in London.

You can get legally married in the Nash Conservatory at Kew (pictured below) and host a drinks reception on a lawn overlooking a lake, take your guests for a private tour on the Kew Explorer around the whole gardens and drop them off at the Orangery - where the party will start!

The colour palette & details

Our client was Australian, and infusing an Australian influence to their wedding design & styling at Kew Gardens was absolutely key. She wanted to use colour, and Kew is a venue that needs colour - so often youโ€™ll see washed out creams used there but because the venue itself is completely neutral, it needs some vibrancy to bring it to life!

We worked on blending neutrals with pops of berry tones, with touches of black for sophistication - all packaged in a modern, minimalist way. The colour palettes were alternated between a punchy palette and a softer one, to stop it feeling too full on. We recommended incredible suppliers to fit the bill - Bud Flora and Ink & Paper who did the most amazing job!

We worked minimalism in through the furniture rentals and stationery design, and also kept the tablescape a beautiful minimalist aesthetic.
